How it works

A Typical Scenario

A fully-deployed OccupEye installation would typically comprise a large number of wireless utilisation sensors (transmitters) linked to small number of network receivers, the system controlled and monitored via data logging and analytical reporting software. For example, an office block with 3 floors might deploy 100 sensors per floor and 3 receivers (1 per floor). Sensors are most commonly mounted under desks or on a ceiling or wall using hook & loop pads, for easy fixing and removal. Receivers are networked and deliver utilisation logs to a standard PC acting as a data logging server, from where the information is automatically transmitted to the OccupEye analytical software (usually in the cloud). Authorised users can access the secure OccupEye analytics dashboard through a web browser to view a variety of flexible space utilisation reports. Office Plan - Hot & Cold Desk

Analytics & Reporting

OccupEye Analytics is a secure web-based portal that authorised users can access through a browser from anywhere with an internet connection, enabling real-time availability of vital space utilisation data. The system’s intuitive interface allows users to set up new surveys, manage existing surveys, control data associated with OccupEye Sensors and produce a range of flexible and hard-hitting utilisation reports. Reports include pie charts, bar charts, tables, graphs, binary logs and a range of other data presentation formats, each allowing for analysis of utilisation at every level; from portfolio to individual departments, floors, desk types, rooms and buildings. OccupEye Analytics reports can be used to inform a wide range of decisions and management reports. Current users typically employ OccupEye to garner a greater understanding of existing space utilisation levels, as a basis from which to plan robust agile working strategies, as a mechanism to incentivise better use of existing workspace and as a factual cross-check of actual space utilisation versus room bookings. The true, continual, 1:1 space utilisation monitoring that OccupEye enables is empowering organisations and giving birth to workstyles based on hard facts, not assumptions. With the real life cost of a 10% variance in space utilisation standing at around £285,000 per annum to a 500 seat organisation based on UK averages, outdated methods of floor-walk head counts, making guesses based on room bookings, coffee cups, screensavers or coats on chairs have long since expired.

The OccupEye® Sensor

OccupEye workspace utilisation sensors are designed and built specific to the task of accurately and efficiently monitoring workspace utilisation in today’s office environment. Based on passive data collection technology (PIR), OccupEye sensors are triggered by both motion and heat, ensuring that the system is ultra-sensitive, yet ultra-reliable when it comes to tracking real-time 1:1 space utilisation. Battery powered, OccupEye workspace utilisation sensors are completely wireless and have been developed to offer users maximum flexibility. With OccupEye, a single unit can be used to monitor individual desk utilisation and defined staff workspace, as well as larger areas such as meeting rooms and break-out zones. Alongside this, they can be integrated with desk booking or hot desking and safe space solutions. Sensors can be mounted under desks, on walls, on ceilings, or even under chairs – whichever configuration best suits your need! The lightweight, sleek design makes for easy transfer and discrete mounting, meaning that accommodation managers can re-deploy units quickly and easily on an on-going basis with no fuss. The OccupEye® Network Receiver

OccupEye network receivers manage the flow of data between individual OccupEye sensors and the cloud-based analytics system. Each receiver has the capacity to handle data from up to 511 individual sensors, with in-built ‘handshake’ technology that guarantees clean and robust data transfer. Multiple receivers can be networked to bridge buildings across sites, counties, countries or continents, allowing for full portfolio coverage. Receivers can be connected to any RJ45 Ethernet socket and offer the flexibility to power over Ethernet, through USB or traditional mains supply. OccupEye receivers are lightweight and portable and can be flexibly mounted based on client preference and system deployment requirements.
